Zeiss

Prescription
smart glasses.

AR glasses built on a Zeiss optical platform that puts a discreet display into a prescription lens: at the time, the only optical engine that could. Developed at tooz technologies, the Zeiss and Deutsche Telekom venture later folded back into Zeiss, where Simon led product engineering and industrial design before founding SK-PD.

What we did

Role: Simon led product engineering and industrial design, 2020 to 2021, as a full-time position before SK-PD, with light support afterwards.

Product: from a working developer kit in a rough frame to glasses engineered for consumers: mechanical architecture, frame design, hinge and temple engineering, electronics integration, miniaturisation and optical engine packaging, plus direction to the optics team for the next-generation engine.

Delivery: engineering work for customers integrating the technology into their own products, and hand-over packages for those who did it themselves.

Working between: optics, electronics, software, marketing and external customers.
